COLONIAL BANK PROVIDES BIG LIFT TO BRIDGETON’S
JULY 4TH FIREWORKS EVENT
Fireworks, like the Stars-n-Strips
and cookouts, are a mainstay on the Fourth of July. But with tight budgets,
communities are turning to the private sector and corporate donors for help in
funding fireworks displays and other activities that mark the holiday
celebration.
For Bridgeton, help comes
in the form of a $5,000 donation from Colonial Bank FSB, who has been a
longtime supporter of the City’s 4th of July program, to be held in Bridgeton
City Park as an end to the Independence Day festivities in Bridgeton.
“The team at Colonial Bank;
led by Ed Geletka and new Board Chair Greg Facemyer, didn’t hesitate to help us
when the discussion of supporting our program came up. They do a lot of good
work in the greater Bridgeton area, as they have for a number of years, and we
are grateful for their support” said Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly
While City officials will
be working in the weeks ahead to secure the remaining dollars needed to fund
the July 4th fireworks, the contribution by Colonial Bank gets them part of the
way towards their funding goals, which include covering costs for police and
park personnel, as well as the actual fireworks.
“This is an activity that
residents and visitors in the greater Bridgeton area look forward to each year,
and it is a nice way to end the 4th of July. The support we’ve received from
Colonial Bank makes that possible and it is typical of their generous civic-minded
approach”, said Kelly.
According to Colonial Bank
President and CEO Edward Geletka, community partnerships are at the core of being
a good corporate citizen, “We look for any number of ways to support the
different communities we do business in, so we are pleased in this instance, to
be able to help Bridgeton continue the fireworks tradition” said Geletka.
To kick things off for 2014,
Ed Geletka and Board Chairman Greg Facemyer will present the $5K donation to
Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly on Monday, April 28th at 11:00am at the
City Hall Annex building located at 181 E. Commerce Street. From there, the
City will set its sights toward July and the fireworks.
“We’ll be raising the
remaining funds for the fireworks program over the next couple of months, but
we couldn’t have asked for a stronger start than the one Colonial Bank gives us
each year in reaching our goals, we are thankful for their ongoing support”,
Kelly said.
